Whether you have your idea completely dialed in already and just need help executing or maybe you don't even know where to start, I'm here to help you through every step of your proposal planning. Until then, here are a few ideas to help you get started planning.
1. Have a good diversion
In general, plans that are unusual or out of the norm for you as a couple (without an already understood reason/celebration) are sure to be a tip-off that something special is planned. If you truly care about it being a surprise here are a few things that can help...
Plan a date night and have a decoy surprise!
My husband did this for our proposal by surprising me with what restaurant we were going to. After accidentally figuring out where we were going for dinner, my guard was down on any additional "surprises" planned. As much as I knew a proposal was coming, I had no idea it would be that night!

Plan it around a special activity or place!

Not only can this make your proposal extra special by incorporating something or somewhere important to you as a couple, but it also helps avoid suspicion that may come up around an extravagant or out of the ordinary plan.
2. Plan for happy tears
Be prepared by assuming there will be tears.
That means maybe you have a little touch up makeup kit prepared or tissues at the ready. If you don't know what they made want/need you can always ask a close friend for help!
This small gesture can help make your partner feel more comfortable with a photographer being present and also goes a long way in showing how much thought went in to making this moment special.
If emotions are indeed big and flowing, don't worry, we always have time to stop and collect ourselves before we move into taking any engagement photos.
Being present and soaking in the moment is the number one priority!
3. Think about wardrobe and location
At the end of the day, you know your partner best. Think about how they may want to remember this moment...
Do they feel their best in their active wear on a hiking trail? All dolled up for a fancy dinner? Cozy and casual at the beach? The focus of a proposal and engagement is celebrating you as a couple more than having the most extravagant or elaborate plan, so make sure to make it feel like you :)
